The air is crisper, the fairy lights are out and we’re flocking to buy the latest seasonal coffee to get us feeling all festive. But scarves and bobble hats aside…by far my favourite accessory at this time of year has to be one of these must-have winter lipsticks!
Whether it’s bold berry shades or a more muted dusty rose, there are shades here that are suitable for every day as well as ones that will see you through the Christmas Party season! And there is bound to be at least one lipstick in here (maybe more) that will become your favourite this winter too.
So let’s get into it and pick your shade…

My Best Winter Lipsticks
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II
These Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are formulated like nothing else. They are so creamy and almost mousse-like, but then dry down (without drying out) and don’t budge!
This has been my absolute go-to liquid lip this Autumn/Winter. There is something so lovely and unique about this shade and I can’t quite put my finger on it.
It’s the perfect mixture between berry and a terracotta and it’s also not quite as subtle as a nude, but not as bold as a bright berry. I feel like this shade works well for day-time as well as for a more glammed up evening look.
Swatches (below) don’t do this one justice and I highly recommend you go in a store and try it for yourself. It’s also a shade that I feel looks different depending on how tan you are and what you are wearing that day.
I can see me wearing this everywhere this winter!
NYX Liquid Suede in Soft Spoken
This NYX Suede Lipstick is a dusty plummy/rose shade in liquid lip format. It does swing more purple toned on me when I am particularly fair, but I loved wearing this for work as it has a sophisticated but bold feel to this shade.
Rimmel Stay Matte in Moca
Really this Rimmel Lipstick in Moca is my Autumn go-to shade. My pumpkin spice latte in a liquid lip. But I feel I carry this over to winter as I’m not always in the mood for the true berry or red or orange tones. This sits somewhere in between the nude, orange and brown spectrum and is such a perfect everyday lip colour.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Fig
This ‘red grape’ shade is the perfect Winter Berry shade for a bold lip. This one leans slightly more purple than the other shades below but the formula of this is second to none.
This Be Legendary Lipstick is described as ‘ultra-luxe hydrating formula glides on for show-stopping, saturated colour’.
Rouge D’Armani in 601 Attitude
Rouge D’Armani is one of the Iconic Lipsticks from the Georgio Armani Lasting Satin Lip colour collection.
This is a creamy formula that packs a punch. It’s both moisturising and long-wearing (apparently up to 8 hours). At first glance, it looks like a dark pink when swatched but it’s quite a complex shade that lends itself to either red, pink or purple depending on its surroundings.

I absolutely love the Georgio Armani Lipstick formula and this one doesn’t disappoint. This has been an absolute staple winter lipstick for years now.
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Fanny
If you can get past the somewhat odd shade name for a lipstick…’I’m sorry what did you say you have on your lips?’ Ha!
But this shade is my absolute favourite for a ‘WOW’ bold lip at a Party. Described as a rich berry this is one of the best statement lipsticks for Winter I have come across.
I wore this to a Christmas Party a couple years back and this Nars Audacious Lipstick is one of the most comfortable and long lasting lipstick formulas I have tried. I really want to try some more shades in this range, so let me know if you have any recommendations.
Excuse the very forced pout but you get the idea of what the shade looks like 🙂

Moving away from the bold berries, we are moving towards a beautiful dusty rose colour that I think works perfectly for a winter daytime look.
I actually bought this Mac Lipstick in Faux for a wedding last year when I was trying to find something similar to Charlotte Tilbury Pillow talk which was sold out at the time. I have no clue if they are vaguely similar in the end as I haven’t swatched them side by side and ended up falling in love with this shade so much I haven’t felt the need to purchase any others.
The swatches of this baby don’t do it justice as it’s such a lovely ‘dusty rose’ shade.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Butter
This NYX Matte Lipstick is a warm taupe shade and is the most unique shade I probably own. It is a warm taupe but next to the bold berries this does look cooler-toned.
I have to be in the right mood for this and last winter I wore this a lot especially to work. It’s a brown nude and is definitely void of any pink.
I think this does look fab on medium skin tones (or if I’ve remembered to fake tan) so I’m definitely recommending it as a great winter shade.
If you’re bored of the usual berry shades then this might be your next one to try.
Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose
Ah, now it wouldn’t be a Lipstick post for me if it didn’t include some Charlotte Tilbury in here. And I’m sure I say this about all the shades at some point but this is my absolute favourite!
Stoned Rose is the perfect terracotta nude with a creamy formula that feels so flipping luxurious. I love how creamy they are but the colour you get is still strong and they last for a lot longer than any of my others.
Stoned Rose is the perfect everyday winter lipstick for those that want something creamier and that will go well with their Pumpkin Spice Latte and Camel coloured trench coat.
I have found this shade to show up differently on different skin tones and that is what I love about this shade. It seems to have a lot of dimension and richness to it making it far from the ‘typical’ boring nude lipstick.
So there you have it…my absolute must-have winter lipsticks!
I’d love to know which you think you would love to try and whether there are any shades you’d recommend?
I’ve purposefully left out reds as I have a post coming up with the ‘only red lipstick you’ll ever need’, ready for the festive season.
Eek I’m excited for Christmas already!
Have a lovely day 🙂
